ichard Nanes has done what many of his contemporaries have been unable to do - create a highly appealing musical style that combines 21st century musical values with the passion and romance of the 19th century.

The music of Richard Nanes first came to the public's attention through the beauty and lyricism of his exquisite keyboard recording, "Nocturnes of the Celestial Seas".

Nanes' Concerto Grosso for Brass Trio and Chamber Orchestra was also given its first performance at this time in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.  International recognition came with the European premiere of his powerful Symphony No.2 by the London Symphony Orchestra.  His Symphony No. 1, received its initial performance in a concert televised nationally which included a featured performance by the late Yehudi Menuhin.

Soon after, the London Philharmonic presented the world premiere of one of his most moving and heartfelt works, Rhapsody Pathétique for Violin and Orchestra at the Barbican, with further performances by various European orchestras in Paris, Kiev, Madrid, Budapest, and Beijing.  The Yomiuri Nippon Symphony brought Nanes' Concerto Grosso to the Tokyo public with a special broadcast on NHK television.  Clearly, Nanes was now an international, as well as a national musical force to be reckoned with.

During the early 1990s. Nanes was given the unique honor of not one, but two invitations to the former Soviet Union, first for the world premiere of his Symphony No. 4 "The Eternal Conflict" by the Moscow Philharmonic and then the performance at the Kiev International Music Festival of the world premiere of his Symphony No. 3 "The Holocaust".

In 1994, the Brooklyn Philharmonic presented the American premiere of the Holocaust Symphony.  Performances of this work soon followed by the Chicago Philharmonia during a season that also brought performances of Nanes' Symphony for Strings to Alice Tully Hall and one week later to Carnegie Hall.  And it was in the fall of 1997 that Nanes was appointed composer-in-residence to the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra.

The Holocaust Symphony received its widest audience in 1998 when the BRAVO Network presented four national telecasts of the work as performed at the Kiev International Music Festival.  As a result of these broadcasts in 1999, Richard Nanes was given an international Silver Angel Award for excellent moral quality in national television by the Excellence in Media Foundation.

Richard Nanes' worldwide popularity was again highlighted in 1999 when he was awarded The Medal of Honor and Diploma for Achievement in Fine Arts for the category composer by the Austrian Albert Schweitzer Society.  The award, presented in Brussels, Belgium, was made in recognition of Nanes' humanitarian works of music.

Through the years 2000 to 2007, Richard Nanes was the honored recipient of eight consecutive National Silver Angel Awards from the Excellence in Media Foundation. In 2005, Richard Nanes received a second Silver Angel Award for his Symphony No. 3, "The Holocaust°.

In May 2005, the Symphony No. 3, "The Holocaust", was telecast nationally and worldwide three times in observance of the 60th anniversary of the Holocaust.

During this period Mr. Nanes five concert DVDs and nine CDs receive continuous telecast and airplay. He continues to perform piano recitals throughout the continental United States.

In 2006, One of the highest honors in telecommunication was awarded to Richard Nanes. He received yet another Silver Medal by the International Angel Awards sponsored by EXCELLENCE IN MEDIA.
